Back in the late 70s and early 80s I spent many periods of time in the highlands of New South Wales alone or in small company. I based myself in a small hut (the Selby Alley Hut) on Gloucester Tops, NSW, and had to take in all the gear I needed for the two weeks or so I was working there, each visit. I used two Tilley X246 lamps for light, and carried them inside microscope boxes for their protection in being lugged through the bush. ... anyway, I'm always on the lookout for similar boxes, and today I spied three of these, that I thought just might be the right size for an Austramax: Cheers Tony
Hi Tony, Nice find I've made my own box ( [url=http://0flo.com/index.php?threads/7308 ), but that's a lot more work .. Cheers, Peter
Nice , What was in it originaly or was it a box for something similar All the boxes in this post are really nice especialy the homemade ones , great carpentry skills 8) & Wim your post was excellent 8) Stu
Stu It was a microscope box. I now have all three of them for less than the price of the wood I would have to buy to make one like Wim... so I am happy. I have fitted two them with a shock absorbing synthetic rubber sheet in the bottom so they each neatly take an Austramax, and I am thinking about rigging the smallest of the microscope boxes up with shelves for two small stoves, and fuel... Cheers
Nice find. Did you cut the small square hole in the bottom in case it was needed for drainage or was it there to begin with? I thought about that with mine, but decided to keep it whole so any spilt fuel stayed inside the box. Ian.
