im not sure if most of you knew of captain mike but he passed away about a month ago ; he was a super guy and really knew his stuff as the pressure lanterns plus the kerosene types he was a dear friend here in the states and we traded plus sold to each other ;he sure will be missed ;not sure what happened but i know he had issues plus he loved living on his boat ; say a pray for him ;
My god! I used to score the occasional item from him on ebay. I always wondered why I didnt see anything after a while. If it werent for Captain Mike I would never have had the opportunity to get a night hawk lantern. He was a very attentive guy to deal with regarding sales and always seemed to be willing to help with any little detail. I messaged him a while back to inquire about the dwindling number of items on his ebay account. Seems there was something amiss. Do you have any info on his passing? He didnt seem that old so it strikes me as odd.
This is so sad and shocking to hear. He was a special and a nice person. I will miss his salutes. Claus C
stormie4me I didn't know the man but I feel your pain. My sister lost her life two weeks ago after battling cancer for 7 years. She was 58 and too young to be gone. My condolences.
I'm saddened to hear that, s4m. Mike and I exchanged occasional emails over the past couple of years and he always struck me as a nice guy. It's a bugger, isn't it. I think he needs inducting into the Lamp 'n' Lantern Hall of Fame...
yes captain mike had issues with his health ;he was if im correct 72 years old ;yep we did a lot of chatting on the phone plus at times we traded certain parts and lanterns ;im not sure if the date when he passed as i just was told a few weeks back about it; yep i as well wondered why i haven't seen any post ;yep he had a deal with jack from the pa state that made those lanterns ;hes in a better place im sure ;thanks for the reply and concern
Very sorry to hear Mike has passed away , if i remember he started out with a post about a lamp & a stove for his boat which stands to reason. If he's up there Steve "Shedman" will be waiting with a brew on his Bialaddimus stove & a Tilley PL to light the way , Good folks are always missed! Prayer said for all those who've gone to pastures new. Stu.

I wonder if he had any family (besides us). I searched all of the area newspapers, but I didn't find an obituary. Light 'em up lads and lasses!
Seems a few of his lanterns are being sold on ebay again from the estate. Seller is kferg. If you like workhorse mantles they are selling them along with some chinese lanterns. just to up date everyone here that captain mike did not have any living family as they all have passed on some years back ;sad really as we used to chat on the phone for hours at a time and he was always proud of his lanterns and stoves plus his tweetie bird that used to sing while we chatted 'wonder what became of the little guy the bird that is though he had many friends ;
the thing is guys as we never know when its out time so we need to fill our days the best as we can' loosing a loved one is the hardest thing we deal with ;as my daughter at the age of 21 was killed back in 01 by a drunk driver ;life isnt the same any longer as getting though the days with out her and never having the chance to walk he down the isle ;miss her dearly and one day i will see her again;in spirit if any thing ;
