Welcome to all. Sunday morning, as I passed by car near a local market with the corner of my eye I see a subject familiar to me, "is certainly a lamp Petromax", I said to myself. I look for a parking lot and with my sum astonishment what I find? A table lamp Px 883. Naturally missing the glass globe (ball). I wonder if it convenient repair the lamp having regard to its more than excellent conditions, it is impossible to find a fishbowl adaptable. I will find? Mah? You have suggestions to make on that? It would be very bad to put the lamp aside. Here are the photos. Regards
Holy cow Onafest You find the more amazing lamp after the other. This is a very nice and special tablelamp. And it looks like it will clean up well Congratulation Claus C
Nice find. These are not complicated at all. Rather standard components but the globe is a challenge not the less because it needs a "catch" rim at the bottom. It has a hole in the top which should be filled with a metal disc thingy. Doesn't optimus/primus has such a model too? (globe with ventilation disc on top)
Yes Primus did use such a globe but on those the rim faces out but as you know the Petromax needs an inner rim. Also Primus globes are the wrong size. What we need is some enterprising soul to make a short run of repro P'Max globes for these lamps. I know they are not a common lamp but there are enough about to make it a worthwhle project. ::Neil::
Ciao Onafest, nice catch, you are a lucky man. I am still having 2 reproduction globes, they fit on a 882 and 883. Look at this thread. http://0flo.com/index.php?threads/2210 On the big photo you can see it. If somebody is interest in the 2nd globe, you can send me private mail
Great find, that looks neat I'm sure 'something' will fit. Maybe a globe for a wick lamp, or take measurements and see what a regular lamp store (for electric lights) has on offer. An original or reproduction globe would be best of course. Cheers, Peter
