Ok, so I got some Tilleys. And I wonder, why is it that I struggle so much more with 606 than 169? Or is it just me? I have had brand new 606 out of the box flooding the lanterns like the jet already is enlarged. And every 169 I get seems to operate perfectly, regardless of age, crust, rust and dust. :D

Of course, I have found a way to manage my Tilleys (I use them a lot), I just use my PL53s and BR49s with 169s. :content:

Still, I like all my lanterns to operate perfectly, so I just went ahead and ordered yet another 606, without really expecting it to work when I receive it. The burners are good and operates perfect, the kerosene is ordinary clean kerosene, and I always pre heat, using a full Tilley torch or sometimes 2.

So, is this the general experience, or is it just that the 606 don´t really like being in Norway? :-s

Also, a short question regarding Vapalux/ Bialaddin 300X. I find this to be an extremely interesting and beautiful lantern, and I´m thinking about getting one. What kind of vaporizer does this lantern use, and is the vaporizers available/ still in production?

I don't seem to have much problem at all with standard Tilley 606 vaporisers - even the new ones (I bought 10 new stock) which are of a lower manufacturing standard than the older stock. But others here have complained about them...

I would - they're generally similar in principle to Tilleys and better engineered.

It's the V40, still in production in Korea* (where all the Vapalux production now resides) and any amount of the old ones are still easily available from the UK.

*South Korea, obviously! I think it's fair to say that the new factory there produces lamps, lanterns and heaters that are every bit as well engineered as the former UK factory and possibly/probably even better. It definitely wasn't a case of outsourcing cheap far-east items as we so often see these days...

    Its true.
I ordered an M320 from Basecamp a while back and its nicely made, with cnc machined brass parts and great fit and finish. They don't give them away either, but you see where the money goes when you use it.

They say that they use the old machines for making the lanterns - but perhaps they use them better?

About the vapourizer - I had no problem finding a cheap second hand one on eBay when I needed one.
