Where to find Parts/Seals for Petromax

I need to replace the seals etc. on a Petromax CP 500. Who had decent seal kits? I know Britelyt has them, but there have been significant comments about that company, so I’m cautious.

I wonder if The Fettlebox is making these seals yet. Probably worth asking now that CCS has gone to v.4 successfully...

 

I didn't see any when I last looked. Definitely worth asking though, as you say!

 

Fettlebox has the filler cap in Viton in stock but not listed & can likely do the rest. He just needs to get his finger out!

While those sites mentioned in the EU are all good, you being from MO, BriteLyt, in my opinion, is a good place to order from.

I know this is a company that folks like to hate, but I've had nothing but good luck ordering parts from them. Excellent web site with great parts breakdowns.

Case in point.
This morning I ordered two #229 rapid heater pips at $2.99 each. The shipping via USPS First Class was an additional $2.61. No huge shipping markup.

I placed the order at 8:49 AM.
At 9:31 AM I got a notification that the order was shipped along with a tracking number.
At 12:44 it was picked up by the USPS and is on it's way to me. That kind of service is hard to beat.

They have several parts kits. This is a Link to a decent one.

Assuming the merchandise is of good quality, naturally.

I'm making no point, specifically; merely a general observation that there's more to good service than sending stuff quickly... 8)

 

I second that. I bought various bits and pieces from an ebay uk seller. Great postage, well packed. The problem was it was crap.

 

Perhaps you might let us know who that eBay seller was, Matty, to save more of us being ripped off - by PT if you prefer...

 

The Search function is not working for me on this site for some reason (404 errors) so I can't go back and look at any specific complaints about their spares. I know all about their claims for the use and operations of different type fuels for their lanterns being a bit of a stretch, but the actual products themselves are quite good (IMO).

I did a total refurb of my Hipolito 502 with their parts and found them to be of high quality in fit and finish. Perhaps others had a different experience.

I would go for Stuga Cabana and guys like Erik who works there also visits the Coleman Convention So shipping and/or English isn't the problem. I guess.

But when order some sheets of rubber is various thickness and make the seals yourself.
With the right tools you can even go for a slab of roofing lead.

I placed an order with Britelyt, 15 min from order to ship tracking number, so that was quick.

There is nothing wrong with the products Britelyt sell. They are from the same place as most P'Max parts sold all over the world. The problem with them is their paper info. Their advice on fuels is dangerous and their take on the history is wildly inaccurate. ::Neil::

 

So Mike, do you already have the parts ?

 

Yes I recieved the parts, 2-3 days after ordering. Parts look equal to or better than the quality of the original parts.

So for parts I would recommend Britelyt.

Still having a problem with my petromax, will address it in a seperate post....
