The weather guys are predicting a blizzard for my area, with snow up to 18-36 inches! We could possibly see winds up to 50+ mph! It's snowing right now and I think, we are prepared... I got my Tilley PL-53, Primus 1020, and my trusty Coleman 228B ready to go. At my age I hope I don't have to use them. Don't want to burn down the house!! I hope all are warm in the Mid-Atlantic area; that's where we're suppose to really get clobbered! Keep your fingers crossed, wish us luck!

Good luck George, and I hope that your lights stay on. I'm sure you've made the obligatory trip to the grocery store for milk, eggs, and bread so you can subsist on French toast for a couple of days!

The storm is passing 100 miles south of me, and we're only expecting the usual few inches of snow this weekend.

Hello George, that is a hellish forecast and I'm glad to hear that you are prepared, Jeff.

Thanks to all of you for the kind words. I went outside for a few minutes and came right back in the house. It's awful... Even the dog won't go out! We have a 132 lb. Rottweiler and I don't want to have to clean up after her!! There's probably 18-24 inches of snow out there right now and some drifts are over 4 feet! If only the wind would stop...

    Hello all!
I think we made it! Blizzard of 2016 is now in the record books. I was out on my deck today trying to make a path for my dog and I was able to get a good idea of what we got hit with. The snow level, for the most part, is about 30-36 inches. I have some drifts in the back yard of over 4-4 1/2 feet and more in some places!!! I can only hope this is it for Winter 2016 - for us!!!
Everything seems to be holding. My son came over earlier to see if he could get the driveway cleared. The driveway is about 150 feet long and all up hill! Things didn't go too well.... He had problems and apparently blow the transmission in his truck. This truck is a monster! It's one of those Ford jobs with a Diesel engine and four wheel drive. He has a plow on the front which is one big bladed @#$#&*!! Anyway, the transmission blow and it's now stuck in the driveway.
I had a snow blower, a really big one, more than I can handle now. He cleaned out his driveway and as luck would have it, the belt for the auger busted! Now we have no truck and no snow blower!!!!!!!!!!! I know you guys further north of us are laughing like hell, but let's be honest, we just don't get blizzards like this in this area. Yes, we do get some blizzards but what can I say? Hell I wish my wife and were in Florida! Then again, I don't know for sure if that's the answer...They got clobbered, too.
Where is Shangra-La when you need it!!!!!!

    Hi Dave,
The only problem is the snow collects really bad at the bottom and that's where the problem started. Those drifts are the worst... Some of them are over 4 feet! Damn, I wish it was simple, but it isn't.
