Guys, boring try to get to the next level:
    outside on the patio or,
higher level in the grass and then
the highest level: at a lamp meet in the grass ;-)

Yes, It was fun while it lasted but tired of it now.. Tried to liven things up by sitting on my reading glasses but didn't really help much.. ..But on the bright side I have a clean shed floor, a well sieved pile of dust, and glasses that show me my feet when I put them on ...

I usually only find what I have lost before while looking for what I have dropped now...

Claus, that old classic seldom work on a shed floor that, as in this particular case, is "Unswept and liberally Strewn with Metal Filings and Swarf".

Done it, played it - with Henry Plews at a Newark meet dismantling the blowlamp preheater of a Tilley X359 to retrieve the seal and pivot pin which had come adrift. Luckily, we won.

Drop a plastic valve cap on the pea gravel drive.

Is it there? Is it hell! It has left the planet.

A suggestion - used by many a Railway Modeller is to wear an apron, secured to your workbench. Catches all those little things, before they hit that floor!

    :-k ...Hmmm, not a bad idea..but I can visualise two nightmare scenarios straightaway..(for me. :( )
...1. Set on fire by welding unable to move...
..Or 2. Fighting with it round my neck unable to move or breathe...
...Thanks for the suggestion though, I just don't think it would work for me as I'm usually moving about too much!.. :) ..(probably why I lost the wretched thing in the first place.. ..)

It's far more fun when the cat saw where it landed before you've even registered you dropped it and thinks 'oh, a shiny new toy!' and runs off with it and hides it among his treasures...

My choice of breed means this is getting expensive!

I lost a small wing nut once whilst I was polishing it on the buffing wheel, damn thing grabbed it and chucked it never to be seen again as I thought. Must have spent the best part of half and hour swearing and cursing moving everything to no avail. Went to work the next day, my mum spent five minutes looking and found it right there where my feet would have been. Similar thing happened to her though, she was cleaning up some bits and pieces in the shed and lost a screw. The same cursing and swearing went on trying to find it. I went down to the shed looked on the floor and there it was staring at me.

The moral of that story is, if you loose something get someone else to look for it.

Mess you say, currently I can't get to the lathe, the bench or the floor.

It's filled the same way you'd paint the floor, start at the back and work your way out the door.

Yes, a cat... I'm a mad cat lady...

I know where he keeps the wrappers from biscuits and such, his collection of feathers liberated from toys, his collection of post it notes, but so far the location of his lamp parts collection has evaded me.

No, it doesn't happen too often, only the most crucial parts are worthy of his attention.

I was going to post a flip answer, but instead will offer a legitimate tip. My workspace usually has a fair but of swarf, sawdust and general debris drifting about on the floor. I've found that using a flashlight (in addition to room lights) is a big help. I shine the light nearly parallel to the floor and somewhere between 45 and 90 degrees to my line of sight. The light hitting at an angle often causes the shiny bits to sparkle and you tend to focus your sight on the small area lit up by the flashlight. By concentrating on the lit area I think I do a better job of searching the area. This works best for dropped bits when you know the general part of the room you're searching. Stuff flung by the buffing wheel or wire wheel are anybody's guess.

It's a couple of months old, he was only 3.5KG then, he is now about 6KG, but he still likes to climb on doors and leap on passing humans for fun.

    Hi Reese,
Post away with your flip answer mate....
Just trying to make light of a situation,
tell you what, when I get this poor excuse for a notebook repaired and I can post pictures I'll send you some detailed shots of my workshop and it's floor and you can make up your own mind eh?..Sometimes the only way I can get away from things is to come on here and poke fun at MYSELF

What a mischievous little prankster. He looks like one of mine "Sprinter", just 5,5 kg but always "interfering" while I am in front of the PC, taking photos, on the stairs  :rage: . It must have something to do with the look :-k

Sprinter is a beautiful cat, a lot like my cat Mishka, who I lost earlier this year.

Kimi is a cross breed between a Bengal and a Tabby.

Everyone is a bit surprised that he has Tabby marking and not Bengal markings, but in every other sense, he is a Bengal. Highly intelligent, high energy cat who need about three hours of high energy play a day. ](*,)

6KG at 10 months and another 10 months of growth to go, his daddy is a monster at 12KG.

I knew none of this when I got him, he was just a Tabby until the people I got him from started getting questions from myself and other people who got kittens from them. It seems their young child had been letting their Tabby in with with their stud Bengal because it looked lonely...

Ha thats a child with gunpowder in the butt :D

12 kg - sounds scary

I heard the Bengal attaches them self to only one person? It is a very very nice looking cat the Bengal.
Sprinter is a Oci-cat, a mix between abyssiner, a American shorthair and a siamese.
I do have a "giant" siamese too - he weighs 8 kg but still fit. He is just too big and does this wihtout my approval always:

    1454878736-DSC00014_opt.jpg

rat rook and sofa, big cat big prey and bed

For a 12 kg bengal a sofa wouldnt even be big enough
