Yes that is one Tilley used for a very short period in the mid 1950s and is not original to this lantern. ::Neil::

A later X246 I guess. Don't think they ever used a wing filler on the table lamps or heaters. ::Neil::

There's one on my 1954-56 Dutch SDR, painted with the rest of the lantern, so original...

Is there some yellow enamel on it? If so I think it is the standard X246 cap, as the SDR cap is black enamel.

The RWS SDR from the mid 1950s was grey and the filler is painted the same. However this filler cap was also used on the standard X246 for a short period around the mid 1950s. This is consistant with its use on the RWS lantern but I also have examples here painted Gold on X246 lanterns. I don't think I have ever seen it on anything other than an X246 but it was possibly used on the track lamps of the period as well. ::Neil::

    :)
Oddly the Lantern you refer to could be said to have a phallic look. I think that these thoughts must be due to my age. (Mental not physical).
Interesting Lantern all the same. Not seen one before.
