Saw this in a second hand shop. I'm pretty sure it's a Coleman maybe made up with two or three different lamps, maybe F 102, CQ... Any ideas? I'm not very familiar with Coleman lamps. I can't pick what model the generator is from.... Or maybe this isn't a mash up and is a semi complete model?
I'm not certain who made that lamp, but it's an interesting example and I have contacted Neil about it and he may have an answer for you.
Looks like a R55 generator common to many of the early Coleman lamps and lanterns. The airtube and manifold arrangement looks non-Coleman to my far-less-than-expert eye. A quick look through Terry Marsh's site doesn't show anything with that distinct double tube manifold.
Hello, i can now identify your lamp and it's a Hunter model 1H, the link below shows Neil's example, but it has a different shut off valve and a different vapouriser. It's possible that your lamp is a later model or it may have had some Coleman parts fitted to it over the years to keep it working, Jeff. http://0flo.com/index.php?threads/315
Thanks Jeff, Very interesting, and exciting being so rare. Pity it may not all be original but defiantly worth going back and picking up. The guy had $20 on it!!! Hopefully I'll be posting back on here with some better pictures with it being at my place very soon.
I wondered about Hunter but dismissed the thought because there's no turnbuckle arrangement as on mine - see image 5 and 6. Hunter Model 3H 1922 - 1925
Certainly a Hunter but modified with a fixed rod instead of the quick release type and a Coleman R55 instead of the Nulite type a Hunter should have. Rare beast all the same and well worth capturing. ::Neil::
... especially for 20 bucks! It'll have 'JM & D Hunter' marked on the burner as per image 7 in my link above...
I do remember seeing that marking when I as looking at the lamp. I hid it under a table amongst other junk in the shop. Should still be there when I head back in a couple of days
