Got this one through the post today. I was really excited to get it as I've not got much in the way of older colemans and this looks to be a particularly nice one, if you look though the grime. I'm after tips for cleaning the rusted steel on the shade, the mica is as close to perfect as you're likley to see on a 79 year old lamp so I don't want to damage that. I'd guess just steel wool and autosol.

The hood's not bad either. :D/

    Soap and water!
Followed by a bit of rubbing with a soft cloth.

That's really all you need on that one.
Atleast from what we can see here.
Anything other would just be abusive.

But if a shiny look is absolutely necessary, Autosol would work.
Both for the plating and the enamel.

The mica could be cleaned by just simply put it in the dish washer on a regular program, and after that dry it quickly to prevent further rust on the metal parts.

Yes, I'm wondering that, too. Someone beat me into second place on that one by about 90 pence. :rage:

I fancied it might have been one of those 427K thingies, in which case, three might have been considered a tad greedy, I suppose...

Thanks for the tips Christer, I'm about to visit the shed for the first time and give it a clean. The mica I will have to wipe gently as we don't have a dish washer.

Yes this is the "Clemco" 8) , sorry David. Thanks for pushing me right up to my top bid though. ;)

    My pleasure, Matt! :p

Is it one of those 427K Mounties? At least we both had the same 'value' in mind for it...

Hi David, yes it is a 427K mountie :D/ . I've taken some pictures for the gallery, one of which shows the punch marks. The burner stripped down completely so I could see the restrictor which I was surprised to see was just a piece of tube slipped inside.

There are some dumb-ass eBay sellers around who do themselves no favours. Whatever happened to those 11 years of compulsory State education... ](*,)

Have you been drinking, Matt? [-X

Can't find that one fishfish, any chance of a link. ;)

I wish, been ( almost ) alcohol free for the past 10 months. Had the occasional tipple but not enough to make an arse of myself.

After typing that I happened to glance at my avatar. I think that was a couple of years ago now and the bottle of Jack is long gone.
