here is a Baby Succès table lamp. A gasoline lamp with a 150 CP burner. As there isn't the "new" needle system (patent FR529059 12.1920), I guess this lamp have been produced before. the needle is screwed through the jet by the knob. The pricker also allows to shut the gas flow but this is more sure if I deflates the fount.
A very pretty lamp! Am I correct in thinking that the jet sprays atomised liquid gasoline rather than the vapour of boiling gasoline as in the modern vapouriser/generator designs? It does not look to me as if the "vapouriser" parts will pick up enough heat to actually boil the fuel and produce a gas.
thanks guys Phil ; When running, the top of the lamp is very hot with the adjonction of the brass top hood. So I think the gasoline have no problem to be vaporised as a gas, I think this lamp could even run with a mix 50/50 gasoline/kerosene.

Please don't stop, All questions are welcome. The "point éclair" (flash point in english) is around 40/45 ° Centigrade for gasoline, so I have had no problem to have a good vaporisation. I have tried to run this lamp with kerosene, but the flash point of kerosene is too hight for this kind of burner. I have obtained yellow flames and rapidly a black mantle. Old French lamps from the 20/30's are mostly gasoline fueled.
Hi Peter The pump is very classic for Guenet & Abbat. An external pump as are Tilleys for exemple I'll do a picture tomorrow
...I like the subtle detailing here.... .....The collar has a milled edge.......but it's raised and rounded? ....The pump handle also has a raised and rounded edge...... ....but at a slight angle resembling a rope twist? .... :-) PB
