The big issue with museum-ships isn't the acquisition & getting them *ahem* ship shape, it's keeping them that way once you do. Simple tourist attraction doesn't foot the bill, even with relatively famous vessels. Belfast's HMS Caroline is supported by the RN museum (and will probably also become a fine dining venue) and the Nomadic, which was the Titanic's tender vessel is effectively a floating night club. We also have a preserved light ship, funny enough, The Petrel, which serves as the local cruiser club's club house and again is available for hire as a function venue. A very good cause though and I hope to be able to visit it someday.
I asked what powered the light aboard Juno / Lightship No.72 and received this reply from Lyndon Pritchard who seems to be a lightship enthusiast:- "she was originally equipped with Catoptric 9-2W oil wick lamps in parabolic reflectors with a nominal range of 12 nautical miles, then in 1948 they were replaced with 6 x100v DC 350watt electric lamps with a nominal range of 27 miles."
