Cute little lamps these. This is the older one with the twin air tube burner. The later X410A has a three air tube burner. Nice to see another running. Rare things in the UK. I think nearly all of them were exported to the US. ::Neil::
Thank you for the replies. Is there a chart with the lengths of Tilley vaporizers? I dont understand this 410 has an odd length, and I dont see any reference to an actual number.
Not that I'm aware of but there weren't that many different vapourisers, anyway. As well as the 169 and 606, there was the 301, I think, in 500cp donuts, the iron vapouriser, the CS56 / CS22 stove one, the X410 one and the leak detector one. The last five would have been used in small or very small numbers. Any more?

I think the LD1 and LD2 leak detectors have different vapourisers. The LD1 is the typical Tilley vapouriser style although I don't have one handy to measure the length. The LD2 is more like the iron vapouriser with an adjustment knob. Now I do have two of those close to hand but I'm not taking them apart just to measure the vapouriser length... Edit: OK, I've just had a scrat around in my vapouriser box. As Neil says, the 606 and 169 are 5" and 7" in length overall but not including the bit of the pricker wire that sticks out of the bottom end. The 301 is also 7" long. The LD1 leak detector uses the 951 vapouriser which is slightly under 3 1/2" (95mm) long. The cleaning wire is Part No.961 The CS22 and CS56 stoves both use the 1560 vapouriser which is exactly the same length as the 951. The cleaning wire is Part No. 1561. For the DN250 and DN250A irons, I have two vapourisers - the 2568A which is complete with the cleaning wire and control knob (and fuel feed pipe). Alternatively, there's the plain vapouriser without the control knob and fuel pipe. That one is 4 5/16" (109.5mm) long.
The 1865 is i believe 6" long from bottom of thread to jet tip then. Thanks for this info. i have learned a lot. A 169 on this 410 looks odd. I didnt try the 606. I would think it would be hard to preheat.
Mmm, I've just been measuring too. The 606 is in fact 5 25/32 inches (134 mm) overall. The 3 examples of 1865 all measure 5 11/16 inches (144 mm). Henry.
X410 and the other lamps with that burner are all rated at 200cp which is why they have a different vaporiser to the normal 300cp lamps. I have never tried a 606 or 169 in one of these but I suspect they would probably work well enough. 606 is near enough in length to look about right. I would be interested to know how it performs. ::Neil::
Well Henry - I've just been re-measuring and I see the 606 is 5" from the tip to the bottom of the knurled finger-nut and not to the bottom of the thread as I said earlier... From the tip to the bottom of the thread is 134mm as you say but that comes to 5 1/4" on my rule and maybe 5 5/16" (135mm) including the little nipple at the jet end...
Yes and no - it could be a 951 for the Mark I leak detectors or a 1560 for the CS22/CS56 camping stoves, both of which are 3 1/2"...
