AGM model 58 (Mid twenties)

I have been told by at least 1 person this is an AGM 336 but I have no paperwork to back that up. I have only ever seen 1 other lantern like this in a collection of someone not on the forums. Any and all info is appreciated. It is basically an AGM 335 with a different cage/vent on it.

 

I am sure I have seen one of these before but I can't find it in my records. AGM 336 is perhaps possible but that is a model number I have no evidence for. It is not listed in the PLC and more importantly not in any AGM paper I have seen. AGM 445 uses a similar globe cage and cowl under the air tube but the burner is wrong for your lantern. It does appear to be a modified 335 so 336 kinda makes sense but I would question the evidence for the model. ::Neil::

 

Looked again at this and it is an AGM model 58 lantern from the mid 1920s. ::Neil::

 

I have done some research and found the AGM model 336 listed in the parts catalog. I am 100% sure this isn't a model 58. The only difference between this lantern and a 335 is the cage and wide vent. I will try to get a picture of the parts list posted.

I found the paperwork but I don't know which catalogue it came from. It belongs to a friend so I will get that information soon.

 

Well! Very interesting. Two models I was not aware of which is very cool. That is from a repair parts catalogue and one I don't have. The catalogue number and date would be most usefull but ideally I would like a copy of the whole thing if possible. Maybe you can persuade the owner to talk to me about a paper swapping deal. ::Neil::

 

Wouldn't you know it I had this info and must have missed it. It's in Parts catalogue 51 from about 1939. Rather odd really because these two modelsare not mentioned in any of the 20s and 30s parts catalogues until 1939 by which time i would ave thought these wouldhave been long obsolete. ::Neil::

 

Makes me wonder if they just made up a new model from left over parts rather than scrapping the extra hollow wire parts. The only place I have seen this vent used is on a hollow wire fixture they made.
