Hi Guys, I have put a nice toy into operation. A pair of French Hollow Wire table lamps. I could not find any information about these lamps yet. The hand wheel is marked with "Lumiere Noel BEC Eblouissant". Andreas
Yes, Andréas, Lumière Noël by the SIAE (or SI) Société Industrielle d'Articles d'Eclairage 15 bld Richard Lenoir, Paris XI since 1880. you have an exemple I am fettling here : http://lampes-a-pression.les-forums.com/topic/1040/lampe-d-atelier-lumiere-noel-environ-1920/#last I'll present this workshop lamp soon on CPL and you can find some exemples in the french gallery. I have never seen such a model and it doesn't appears in the catalogues I own "Bec" = burner and "ébouissant" = dazzling Bté = breveté = patented SGDG = Sans garantie Du Gouvernement = without garanty of the government Ernest Noël claimed some patents of the first french pressure lamps circa 1900/05
Peter ; nice catalog which is very important in the Noel saga. I didn't thought the "Noel system" belonged to Heeckhout. 1834 creation of "Le chevretel & Heeckhout" 95 Boulevard Lenoir in Paris, XI then circa 1905, "Heeckhout & Foubert" 68.70 Quai de Jemmapes, Paris and 1.3.5.7 Rue Alibert, which is the adress of DBD since 1919/20 (the purchase of Heeckhout & Foubert by Dutrut, Bernier, Desrues) these 3 societies are "fabriques d'ustensiles de ménages en gros" in english, something like "wholesale factories in household utensils" In 1921, throught a Lumière Noel catalog, we have the knowledge the SIAE (Société Industrielle d'articles d'Eclairage) at 95 boulevard Lenoir, Paris, XI. This society exists since 1880. therefore, I can guess the SIAE have a factory (of a great range of wick lamps and "lumière Noel pressure system) which were sold by those 3 companies. We progress in knowledge. Finally, this can explain the likeness beetween the Noel burner, Liberty and DBD burner. Andreas ; have you a stamping on the burner head ?
this kind of burner would be the "P" I don't know what that means though I also have a "bec éblouissant" on my rafale lamp. here : http://0flo.com/index.php?threads/7840 But as you can see this is not really the same even if it could have some similarities I was puzzling about the logo on your knobs. It doesn't seems to be the SI (Société Industrielle) logo. I understood now : on your knob is missing the middle of the S letter. It gives this :
Andreas - Lovely old Noel hollow wire set and great getting these running. Also love the coiled ends of the hw tubing ! Peter - Very intersting paper getting another piece in the French pressure lamp manufacturing puzzle! /Conny
