Hi all I asked on a mailing list and got offered some tilleys and spares.
I have from researching a complete pork pie type TL106 and two fonts and vaporiser in the cream and brass style.

I need to buy two galleries and burners for the TL 106's - are the reproductions any good or better to keep eye on eBay?

I have a number of spares I was given so I hope to fettle one in a couple of days with kids and the other 2 over time.

I also have another brass font like guardsman I'm not sure of model

I can attest that the reproduction gallery I bought works perfectly.

    Best regards

I have used reproduction galleries made by both Korean eBayers and they work very well, no problems

Thanks, I have been waiting for NRA washers and cock washer by strainer to arrive.
These turned up today but I didn't get finished until late.
we have warmed up the tar like substance on the pump NRV and got it undone.

It,has a heavy lacquer/ varnish that seems to be very resistant to most solvents like brake cleaner or meths I tried.

Could anyone suggest how I remove varnish from font internals please

Sorry, I wrote what I did below before I remembered that you were doing this with your kids.

    So, DON'T use acetone!
There are some very good citric acid based paint strippers that can be used easily. If you want to know the brand name, I can dig it out tomorrow.

    Cheers

Acetone and elbow grease id your normal paint strippers wont work.

But make sure you have the right gear for handling acetone. And remember, it's very explosive.

    Cheers

    Tony

Thanks Tony, I think acetone would get a visit from social services, I hear nail varnish remover is ok- ironic as it is.

I would like to involve the children as much as possible, I will seek out some citric acid paint remover.

Kids seem genuinely keen to understand how it works and clean up parts in a world where everything is disposable.

Once cleaned out not too far off lighting
