1938 Tilley AL 12 Signalling lamp

    This is a picture mick took of a AL 12 seen at a steam fair while the owner displayed a vintage caravan there

    was that at the great dorset steam fair this year?

    Well, if you mean that particular lamp, then it probably was. It was at Ashover this year, where the owner was also displaying his classic caravan and proudly telling everyone how his lamp was the only one in the world. Funny how a few weeks ago his son turned up on this forum having found another. Hmmm. :^o

    Hi ! The photograph I took of that lamp with 3 colour lenses was at a steam rally near Nottingham 19 years ago and the owner had a caravan with small table under awning with this lamp as seen in the pic.
    Owner claims to have found the lamp at sheringham on north Norfolk coast in Antique shop a good 20 years ago .
    The adverts below advertising the AL12 I found at the British library whilst under taking a lot of book research for Jim's Tilley book on my return from Australia. That was 1998
    Two versions of the tri lenses AL lamp exist !

    The caravan owner must be short on conversation
    if he is still spinning out the same " Bull " all these years later !
