The photo of the tank with the parts taken off looks very genuine, no dodgy solder etc, but not the same valve as on an early TL10...would have liked to see it in the flesh really...

Is it possible that there is a part missing from the pressure relief?
Perhaps then it might not look so extended?

I suppose it was listed as 'spares/repairs/not working'?

Looks pretty legit to me. No signs of any recent modifications. I am not sure about the fitting for the control cock which is taller on most VL1s to keep the tap clear of the pump. Also why fit a pressure release valve when the pump can just be unscrewed?

I'm pretty sure the early lamps with the other type valve don't have a pressure tit on the tank, whereas that did...

Yep, I saw that and thought it looked pretty original. As Paul said, there's no dodgy looking repairs or mods.

I'm sure the new owner is watching Pete, but who is it??? :-k

Dont know who the newowner is but sort of thing that would tempt me like
looks original like you say some really earley bits on as well that hexagon control cock only on lamps 1922-24 i have a couple on lamps here but the rod to the control wheel is longer they must have shortened it for the VL1
The lamp top looks very crowded with all the bits on must be tight inside that tank
    cheers pete

HaHa Matthew, it just means I don't care so much about having the pink or black (may God strike me down for telling such a lie). You know that I just have the common old gold and saxe blue, I declared a few years go that it was my ambition to have all six colours before I snuffed it but I fear time is running out, barring miracles. I never give up hope though and you never know what is around the corner!

Well, I'll be sure to let you know if I find two or more of any of the remaining four colours. Would love to help you with your quest, but not before mine of course. ;)
