Firstly may I state petrol in a Petromax is a BOMB and the German army stopped using petrol after accidents.

Secondly mine appears,to be little used, and with petrol vaporizer.

To convert I'm thinking new Preston loop vapourizer, new jet and replacement seals as rock hard.

Soak pump leather in neatsfoot oil as supple, but dry.

Have I missed anything? Other than a suitable silver high temp paint?for grill above font

No-one actually knows with any certainty why the Bundeswehr stopped using petrol. Certainly accident are the most cited reason.

Yes, all it needs is a vapouriser with a preston loop and a service to return it to service.

Those 500 cp petrol vapourisers are very sought after, you may be surprised what you can get for it.

Is it possible to try the unit on kero and see what happens?

And if that fails, to try a smaller jet (kerosene needs less fuel)?

    Just curious.
