Hi, Finlay after a long wait and search I got me a Tilley AL21 Type2 is there an exploded view diagram for it before taking it apart? also were they ever plated? as it looks it has something like nickel/chrome below the paint.
Hi Doron i dont know of a diagram for it but you will be ok dont think it will hold any suprises for you, most steel tilley lamps like the AL21 and FL6 had a coating of tin\lead over the steel to help prevent rusting and help with the soldering\assembly process i think, some may have been plated but i have not come across one pete
Thanks Pete, The interesting part for me is to know how does the vaporizer feed tube connects to the tank? soldering or thread?
Hi as far as i remember its soldered to the tank i know i have had a couple leak there and have had to repair the leak before repainting cheers pete
AL21s were never plated. What you can see will certainly be lead tinning. That type was always painted black. Simple things so you just unbolt until it is in pieces. I probably have a diagram here somewhere. I will have a look and mail one to you. ::Neil::
