Thanks, Nils. The main reason I posted it here is because it is several years older than the others in the gallery. It runs like a champ, but I must say it is rather loud for a table lamp. Louder than the 1020 lantern, actually.
Yes they are quite loud, but there are a lot of openings for the sound to get out. I find that the sound gets 'tuned' out after a while. You were right about the gallery. I have a 1025 from 1939 but can see I have never posted it. From memory, this is the first year when the 1025 changed design and went to the parchment shade.
What is a bit puzzling to me is that there is unused screw thread in the hole of the burner cage base plate. It is secured with the big nut to the fairly thin stud of the control cock body. I seem to remember that the 1015 base is also threaded, but there the thread is used to tighten it to the riser tube.
I'm at work at the moment so working from memory. The globe cage/base plate was designed for both the 1015 and 1025, so the extra thread is for the 1015. The 1025 uses the adapter as you have noted.
