Decided to try and fire up my Veritas Superb this evening and was amazed to find it behaved........welll, superbly!! I've had this running before but never very well. Could the warm weather have something to do with it I wonder?? A handsome looking lantern and a shame they don't run as well as they should. But here is one that (at least tonight) actually works!!

Oh well I take it all back. :-( After running flawlessly for over 3 hours it's now started to misbehave. Every now and again the mantle erupts in a ball of flames. I'm wondering if it's due to a drop in the ambient temperature. Might try it again on another warm evening and see what occurs.

    Nice looking lantern indeed.

    The planets aren't aligned anymore.

Did you start out with fresh fuel? I wonder if it is a fuel pickup tube causing problems.

Jeff, yes it was fresh fuel. I think the only problem this lamp has is that it's a Veritas Superb. Thought I had a good 'un there for a while but it wasn't to be. Still, it was nice while it lasted.

3 hours is pretty good. Mine only ever did an hour at best. Nice ornaments but that about covers it. Polish and admire but don't mess about trying to make them work 'cos they don't. ::Neil::
