That thread on the brass part looks very Tilley to me and the width looks like its the same as a 500cp one off an OL51 or similar, but it's short like a stove. The iron uses a totally different one and the CS22 has the same burner as the CS56 so presumably the same vaporiser as well. I'll throw FL10 into the mix, seeing as @Tony Press has posted this on the lamp forum and its the only Tilley I know of that I haven't seen the inside of. However I do doubt that. So my choice and I reckon most likely is an SY stove as seen Here?
It looks like a (500 cp) Tilley 501 vapouriser which has been shortened for some reason or another. Here is an image of a 501 (on the left), note the diameter of the tube in relation to the brass fitting compared to 300 cp vapouriser. And the other end which has been shortened, Possibly ? Just guessing of course and I've no idea what it may have been used for. Henry.
@Matthew92 just for the record, the FL10 takes a 606 vapouriser. I have seen it before so I, like Bob, are banned.
Thanks @Anthony I'll probably never own or even see an FL10 but it's good to know I've got a spare vaporiser.

I never thought of the SY stove. The band of brazing certainly threw me. As an aside, there are 3 different styles of 500 cp Tilley vapourisers, the brass fitting on the one I used in the images I posted also has a flat with patent number on - 202484 Henry.
Interesting this. I've thought for a while there seem to be three types of SY stove;- the bell-shaped tank and (fairly) conventional vapouriser as shown above; the conventional tank and completely bonkers vapouriser/pricker as shown in F.C. Tilley's patent application dated 17th March 1921 - see page 91 in Jim Dick's book; the conventional tank and fairly conventional vapouriser as shown on page 83 of the same book. I've no idea of the relative dates and progression of these three types but the order above seems logical as a starting point. My guess would be the first with the very early tank was 1921-22; the middle type was a short-lived and unsuccessful 'improvement', maybe 1921-22 and the last type maybe 1922-24 - all of which is complete supposition, obviously. I've now seen two examples of the first type (as well as the one shown above, another sold on eBay UK this year, although these could be one and the same stove - more information needed); two different examples of the middle type and one example of the last type...
Thanks, @David Shouksmith The reason I started this rather odd thread was to get people thinking about the evolution of the Tilley vapouriser and its different styles (especially its internals) . Cheers Tony
If I recall correctly, I have been collecting lamps etc., for over 25 years now and that is the first time that i have seen that model of vapouriser, thanks for that Tony!
I dont think I've got any picture of it, but there was part of one of these on eBay a while ago. I think it was just the tank with that three armed piece that the legs attach to. Very unusual shape on the tank, I fancied buying it to convert to a Tl14 of some sort but if I recall the price went a little too high for my liking.
How is the vapouriser kept hot on this style of stove - is it only by conduction from the brass bell?
@Tony Press I have examples of the top and middle 500 cp vapourisers shown in this post by @JEFF JOHNSON Tilley 301 vaporisers, three different styles.. and the prickers are more or less the same as in a 169, the only difference is the diameter of the needle. I haven't tried to remove the brass fitter as previous attempts (on old worn out vapourisers) have resulted in the brass shearing off. Henry.
Oops, the link doesn't seem to be highlighted for some reason, try this: - Tilley 301 vaporisers, three different styles.. Henry.
This sounds like the one I referred to above. My recollection was that it suddenly disappeared from the listings and I assumed someone had made the seller an offer he felt he couldn't refuse. Whichever way it was, neither of us got it, Matthew...
@David Shouksmith it probably is the same one yes. I don't remember any other parts though, certainly not the trivet, so I think this must be a different one. No doubt the one on eBay found its way out of the country though. I bet there's a few complete examples of these somewhere buried in grannies loft up and down the country, as well as the others from the above adverts. If only I could bump into a few more people that say oh I've got a couple of Tilley's at home and they turn out to be like this...
