Here is my Nulite 2M (1921) model (using @Mackburner's classification in his "Pressure Lamp Catalogue") . It is in very good condition for its age, complete with mica globe (chimney). Before cleaning up: The components: "Trade "Nulite" Mark" "National Stamping & Elect. Wks. Chicago." The 'hood' on the generator (vapouriser) is stamped: "Patented May 9 1922"/Patented June 3 1924". The mica chimney (globe). As it came: Up and running (daylight): Testing it for lighting: Mantles soaked in metho. First light. This is a very fine lantern. Cheers Tony
Very nice example. The chrome finish is usually in poor condition around here. Great runners, and very quiet.
A very nice example of the model. The patents for that generator were both applied for in 1920 US1415180 22nd Sep 1920 and US1496420 1st Nov 1920 but for some reason grants were delayed for some time. Your gen has to have been made after the grants but since it is an expendable part that can't date the lantern which may have been between application and grant. ::Neil::
@Mackburner Are there any of these out there with that generator not stamped, or stamped “Patent Applied for...” or similar? If it originally came with another generator would it be properly identified as a 2M or does the 2M have only 2 cage rod supports? Tony
There are 3 different model 2Ms or maybe 4 if you count the 1925 version which has a built in pump although that should perhaps be a 3M. 1st 1918, 2nd 1920, 3rd 1922. The 4th is from about 1925 and is basically the 3rd type but with a pump. All are listed in the PLC. ::Neil::
