Those are earlier and they unscrew anti clockwise, you will probably need to grip the spindle with a set of pliers, but pad the jaws of the pliers first with a piece of soft leather or a thick cloth and use the same method with another set of pliers on the knob, then grip the spindle tightly and unscrew the knob.

Funnily enough, I've just encountered the same problem tonight with a 300X I picked up on the weekend. For the life of me it just won't budge even when using quite a bit of force and doing what Jeff suggested so I'm a bit stuck!
Finally got the control knob off with the help of some shock and unlock. Please can someone remind me, as I get confused with this. When I reassemble it what position should the 'v' be in so that it is in the clockwise closed position; is it this 'V' position but inverted? Thanks
The knob on Bialaddins and Vapaluxes isn't actually a control cock as in Tilley lanterns, although it does seem to act in the same way. It's actually the jet cleaner or pricker control and when the 'V' is pointing upwards, it represents the pricker in its raised position i.e. in the jet and cleaning it. All you need to do is to screw the knob fully home and it's automatically in the correct position. The story behind this is quite interesting. Tilley invented and patented the sealing control cock/jet cleaner which also shut off the flow of vapourised fuel into the burner when the pricker was in the jet. This was achieved by making the shoulder in the pricker rod the same shape as the inside of the jet. Willis & Bates copied this idea but never described it as a control cock, instead using the term 'jet cleaner') and Tilley took them to court where protracted litigation ensued. Tilley lost the case so Willis & Bates didn't change the design at all. That's why the jet cleaner acts as if it were a control cock. It also explains why the 'official' way to turn off a Willis & Bates lantern is to release pressure from the tank. It's actually a bit more complicated than that but essentially that's what happened. It's all in Ian Ashton's book, pages 10 and 11...
Yep, sorry, I got my terminology wrong using the word 'control' as know it is only to clean the jet. Interesting about the legal side of things too! The seals have arrived from fettlebox now so away we go getting it sorted once my cage strut arrives
Morning, my latest purchase off ebay arrived yesterday for the princely sum of £15 delivered. It's a 320 but I've not seen a pricker control knob like this one before.I've a couple of other 320s and the knob on those do not t look like this one so I was wondering, out of interest, if anyone had seen one like this before? Thing doesn't move anyway at the moment...
I've got a 305 in bits and the knob is the same. The gland could be seized. I undid the screw and took the knob off and repacked the gland. The vaporisor pricker was seized in mine.
That's what I thought too - bit of a surprise to pick that up for so little on ebay as there are a lot on there with high starting bids. I did pick up a Tilley X246 Guardsman and a X246B for a tenner each last weekend at a newly opened reclamation yard near too us, which I was well pleased with!
