    Here is a B.R.49 in original condition with pre heater. Plate attached reads
    ENG T&S dept Wpton. Translated- Engineers Telegraph&Signal Department Wolverhampton.

    Hello Al, that's an interesting find, I have an FL6 which is also painted red and it's marked with the short hand for, Chief mechanical engineer's dept, breakdown train. Jeff.

    Hello Jeff, I'm sure there's lots of these marked ex railway pressure lamps around. I do find them interesting although the range of models is fairly small. Could we have a look at your FL6.

    Were they painted red at the lamp factory or by the railways people?

    Hello Juan, my FL6 looks to have been painted by the railway folk, the lettering for the department was put onto the tank and then a coat of red paint was applied, Jeff.

    Ok. I ask because in this picture I can't see any other colour under the red. Perhaps there is some golden paint?
