First off i love this forum, full knowledgeable people, thankyou in advance. Now if im wanting to sell a 247 CPR mint with caboose bracket what would something like this sell for, ball park. Second how hard are these to acquire and are they rare. Are they more sort after them other coleman lanterns, are these the Holy Grail of colemans ? Or the average run the mill. Please fill me in. Forum posts which request valuations will have this policy posted in reply by the forum moderator, and it will then be locked. This policy has had to be adopted because the value of an item is determined not only by age, condition and perceived rarity, but also by how many purchasers may be interested in it at that specific time. Time spent in reviewing the sort of prices which similar items reach in an online auction site, may give you a guide to it’s value. It is then your decision as to whether you sell it, and the method you choose, noting that it is always possible to seek a buyer via the For Sale section of the Trading Post on this site (Subscription Required). Thank you for your co-operation. Yes, your lamp is desirable by collectors, especially from North America. One way to find out just how desirable is to put it up for auction on ebay. Yes they are rareish and even more so with the caboose.

The CPR lanterns are not all that common although perhaps not rare since I know of quite a few with collectors. I also know of a lot of collectors who don't have one. So they are not the holy grail but sought after for sure. NiB with the caboose bracket will be quite desireable and anything in mint unused condition always attracts a premium.
Thankyou Mackburner for taking the time to reply, I agree with what your saying. Its hard to comprehend that some people would pay thousands for lamps. Its amazing what some coleman lamps sell for. Its a very addictive hobby lamp collecting lol
Ah yes I know very well what some Coleman products can sell for. Not even a question of rarety either but rather desireablity. The CPR 247 is not one of the high flyers but still better than your average offerings. One thing I have never done is to rate lamps by rarety. Bit of a hard call anyway but perhaps on a scale of one to ten a 247R is maybe about three. Make no mistake we do know what lamps cost. We do after all buy the wretched things and we also pretty well know how rare or not any one lamp might be. Problem with value is for the truly rare things known by a single example none have ever been sold on an auction so there can be no historical value. There are quite a few such lamps held by collectors here but we mostly can't put a monetary value on them. I have a few here and I have no clue what they are worth.
