We have only just discovered evidence for the correct model number for this special made for Canadian Pacific Railways in the 1960s. It is not just a 247 lantern mated to a 237 type tank but is in fact a special. To Quote Matthew Reid "247R CPR lanterns have a unique fount, they use the 236/237/220E nickel plated type fount but have a valve thread bushing threaded for 1/8" NPT to accept the standard 247 type fuel valve, the regular 236/237 and 220E type founts all used a 1/2" 27 TPI threaded bushing." This example is dated 8 64 for August 1964. It has taken me three days to find it after Matthew gave us the model number. It says much for Coleman quality that it has not been run for maybe ten years but fired up like it had been yesterday. These do turn up from time to time so they are not exactly rare but are not too common either. I don't know how many were made but I guess for Coleman to tool up for it probably meant a run of several hundred at least and may have been more. ::Neil::
