This fuel air system is plugged up. I can get nothing thru the to the generator base. I was able to thread the smaller tube off and clear it, but the larger with the stuffing at the bottom. is very tight or maybe soldered? I heated a bit with a heat gun, as there are soldered joints I didn't want to come apart. Yet anyway. lol. I have cleaned a few of these Aladdins up, but this is the first I need to clear the pickup. I borrowed this photo. Mine is much worse in condition with old fuel deposits. here is the poor old girl
Darien, In lieu of removing the solder - which you don't seem to want to do, I know what I would do but it is possible you wont like the idea. I'd soak the part in clean vinegar over night then use my compressor with a nozzle and blow air through at high pressure.
I have soaked it in Berrymans carb cleaner sitting in the hot sun. it doesn't seem to cut the crusty gunk. I am not afraid of removing the solder, I just don't want to do something un-needed I guess. Especially if it wrecks it. lol. Thanks Matty
Darien, Sure, I hate taking steps like de-soldering unless it it an absolute last resort. The vinegar will break up the crusty junk you speak of. If the larger tube with the packing in it isn't soldered, the vinegar is a good chance to break up the gunk that is locking it. I've never tried this but I have read that it works well. Drop the part in vinegar and bring the vinegar to a rolling simmer. It might only take 10 minutes to see a good result. Use some steel wool or even a stiff nylon or brass brush under running water to clean the outside up. You should be able to tell for sure if it is soldered once all the crusty junk is removed. For the inside, blow compressed air through to eject as much of the matter out of the packing as you can. If it isn't unblocked, repeat a number of times. I'm sure you will get a result.
