I have just picked up a lovely 1934 Primus 1020 at a flea market in Copenhagen but it has no bail / handle.

I have looked at Base Camp but no luck there. Has anyone got a suitable spare they could part with? Failing that, does anyone have any bright ideas about making a Tilley or Coleman spare fit the Primus?

Hi David, I do not know exactly what the shape of the bail/handle is, but I have several Tilley handles spare and an Anchor (Petromax Copy) handle. If you can provide details of shape etc it would help. Regards steve.

Easy fix this. I have scrapped around three or four 1020s and I can do you a handle. PM me with an address and I can mail it to you. ::Neil::

    PM sent, many thanks!

I have another question - in the corner of the spirit cup is a little metal tab with a hole in it, what is it for? Does it hold a wick for easier spirit lighting?

You're not the only one to wonder about this. When new, this tab has a short length of string attached which I assume is asbestos string. An obvious conclusion is that it is a wick to aid in lighting. This is not stated anywhere though, so there is no proof.
