Found this in store a while back.... Cocofire..... made from coconut oil by Lumea as an alternative to paraffin. Works OK in my wick lamps so I thought I'd try it in a pressure lamp. Smells better than paraffin too. I contacted Lumea before trying it, they said they hadn't tried it. Unfortunately they also said that they'd stopped making it.
My .question would be: Can you fly a jet aeroplane on it? If not, it’s not close enough to kerosene for paraffin pressure appliances. Tony
https://media.nisbets.com/asset/en/media/msds gj065.pdf If this is the stuff, it's FAME, aka Biodiesel. Edit: Looks like the flashpoint is about 2x that of kerosene. I would guess it will carbon up a generator faster and have more residues than kerosene. I'd limit use it to wick appliances, and am looking forward to hearing the long term effects on a pressure appliance.
I don't know about cocofire but most vegetable oils might contain some fatty acids and other stuffs which means they might not be pure hydrocarbons. Most have a tendency to degrade chemically to some extent as they are more biodegradable than mineral oils or fuels. Try it anyway. Even if could light up a pressure lantern, its likely to carbonize the vaporizer way too quickly.
