@LanternTom If (when) you have those lanterns in your hand, I would be interested to see whether: 1. the 2/200 has “Pat Pend” anywhere on the tank (top or bottom) and whether it has a two bungs in the top of the tank, one fitting the fuel flow mechanism, the other being sealed off with a bolt; and 2. Where the “Austramax” stamping is on both lanterns. Cheers Tony

Hi Fellas, as I was browsing this morning I noticed two ''familiar'' Austramax lanterns? Matty notified me of them being for sale near my home in Toowoomba, I bought them, then swapped them to Andrew in Tasmania for a Gloria, he then sent them to a friend in the USA, I think?

Well it looks like the red top one is a crossover between what I call a 2/300 ver. 4 and a 3/300 ver. 1.
Perhaps not worth splitting the red topped one out to a reference topic of its own then? What are the black(ish) topped one? Is it correct, and which model?
@Carlsson, @Nils Stephenson & @LanternTom Christer, on current analysis, I would put the one with the 2/300 collar, but the 3/300 tank stamp, in the 3/300 section. Unless there is something really odd about the tank, it looks like a standard 3/300 tank to me and we have no evidence that it’s been cobbled together. Nils, what do you think? The other with the blue speckled hood is 3/300. Cheers Tony
Tony I have a red top exactly the same 2/300 collar clip lock pump and 3/300 fount I would say early 3/300 with leftover 2/300 parts Typical of what Coleman Canada did ! My two bobs worth
Yes exactly. Apart from the stamping, I can't find any difference between the last 2/300 and the first 3/300. It makes sense that the factory used up old stock as it didn't affect the performance (which is what the customer was concerned about). The mottled top is one of the first of the 'new' type of 3/300 with the arrow type wheel and the new shape of the hood. My guess is that this must be from the early 70s.
