    Here's a nice one I bought last winter, and finally dug out to have look at again.
    I actually made an effort over a month ago, but found that the lantern was missing the inner hood, so I gave it a rest again. No good to have a lantern that won't work!
    Strange, though... I was pretty sure it was a complete lantern I bought back then.

    Funny thing is that I found it last week - the inner hood! In a rather unexpected place.
    It was sticking up from the gunk at the bottom of the old stainless steel drum I use to incinerate all kind of shit that always will be left over...
    I guess it somehow was left inside a cardboard box when I was doing some house keeping (cardboard boxes seems to be one big part of all that will end up in that drum of fire...).

    I was happy to find it again. It was a bit rusted after being burned and then left outside in the rain, but not too bad. It will still do its job, so I am happy.
    I will test the lantern soon enough, but I have no doubts that it will work flawlessly. It doesn't seem to have been used very much. Possibly only lit a few times, and then tucked away.

    @Carlsson

    That’s a very good looking lantern. :thumbup:

    I’m glad you were able to recover the inner hood.

    Cheers

    Thanks, both of you!

    Martin, cleaned up is absolutely the right word! :lol:
    I didn't polish it or use any other abrasive stuff. Still it look almost like new.
    Just a good bath in soap and water, dried up the pieces and put them together again.
    Oh, well... apart from the inner hood I apparently, accidentally, incinerated...
    That one had to be treated with a wire brush. I regret that I didn't take a picture of it after pulling it out of all that muck at the bottom of my "fire-drum".
    It looked like it had no future, but it actually came out very nice, considering...

    Thanks everyone.
    I agree, Titoo. The proportions of these smaller ones are good. They do look nice.

    I gave it a go last weekend.
    It performed extremely well, but nothing else was to expect. After all I assume it was a pretty much un-used, or very close to it, lantern.
    Nothing surprising there. Everything worked and it gave a good light for its size.

    The nice little pilot flame that occurs just after the meths in the preheating cup has expired:

    A test of the function before tying up a mantle:

    I'm a fan of Peerless, so I took a 2C-Hg for this little lantern. It's rated 250CP, but a larger mantle would also do.
    Normally I pre-burn the mantles, but in reality I doubt that it's anything to gain with that. It's just a nice procedure.
    In this case I choose to let it be pre-burned by the preheting procedure:

    And as said; it performed as expected:

    And finally the receipt for a correct working lantern;

    It looks as good as brand new. I guess there's little chance for me to get any Primus as good and complete as that in my part of the World.
