IL34 is the 500 cp indoor do nut lamp and this one dates from around the mid to late 1930s. I have fitted a narrow bore nozzle to this burner so it can be run with a 169 vaporiser. The wire globe loop is home made. I have included a shot of the gallery with a table lamp gallery and burner beside it to give you an idea of the size of this 500 cp unit. ::Neil::
Would this normally have figure-of-eight loops at the top as well as those at the bottom of the suspension rods? Also, what mantle does this lamp use? (Edit - OK, sorted that - it's the 312...)
Yes it should have Fig 8 loops at the top as well as the botom. They were missing when I acquired this lamp and I have been too idle to replace them. ::Neil::
Ah, OK then, Neil - when you get around to fabricating some replacements, would you be able to make four rather than just three..?
OK, then - form an orderly queue after me! Am I correct in thinking that the 300cp models were fitted with the 'tulip' globe (as seen in the Tilley advertisements hereabouts) and the 500cp models were fitted with the globe as seen on Neil's lamp? What's the number of that particular globe? - because I need one...
Hello David, the 182 globe was used on the 300cp do-nut lamps, except for the 1950s IL47 (The Warden) when the 284 globe was offered. The 284 was also offered for use with the 1950s KL80 lamp, (The Victor). On the 500cp., do-nut lamps the 302 globe was used and they are scarce nowadays. Yes a rare piece of glass near impossible to find. A good substitute can be the round shouldered globe from a Bialaddin table lamp or 310 lantern. It is a tad smaller but looks about the right shape. Mind you that is not an easy find either but they are perhaps easier than the correct Tilley globe. ::Neil::
