Hi all, Early 2016 I bought a Pmax 834 in reasonable condition. I started dismantling it, but the project was temporarily aborted because of to many reasons. Being on early retirement now I decided to make this my major winter project. So far I could not see any big problems or missing of vital parts, only, the ceramic nozzle is broken. As I understand it, these were typical for the 834 models. Does anyone know if there is a source for these anywhere? If not, I have 250HK nozzles and a brass fitting but that would involve some cutting and brazing and I'd prefer to keep things original if possible. Has anyone converted theirs to replace the original nozzles? What exactly was done? Another question is, can anyone give a time frame/rough idea when these were made? Mine was originally imported and sold in Spain by Klaebisch - Barcelona. As I understand it, Klaebisch later started making their own version using brass donuts but using Pmax burner parts. Would that make mine late 1920s/early 1930s as it is a full Petromax? Thanks, best regards, Wim
Petromax were making do nut lamps from about 1918 as far as I remember. I don't know if model 834 dates from then but it was certainly in the range from 1929 and was still being made in the late 1950s. I don't know enough about Klaebish to be sure when they stopped importing and began to make their own version. I have some information on Spanish lamps but not near enough and it is an area that wants further research. ::Neil::

Hi Wim, if you have a spare ceramic nozzle from a Ditmar 501, 506 or similar it fits perfectly... maybe a donor lamp. Nicola
Hi Nicola @nep036 , I only have 1 Ditmar lantern, a WW2 military one (another small project, the cleaning needle is broken and no replacements available... ). It is in good working condition (other than the needle ). Cheers, Wim
What Ditmar do you have ? As for the 834 if I remember well I used the burner of a Graetzin gaslight. That is the metall part.
