The problem with this new acquisition is the air pump's check valve seat. It is damaged - the brass tube appears to have split at a couple of points around its circumference - and will no longer make an airtight seal against the rubber pip. Sadly, the pump is of the older pattern with the female thread which screws on to the external male thread on the tank, and I don't have a spare pump of that type. I've overhauled literally dozens of Tilleys and it's the first time I've encountered a damaged seat like this.

I have considered soldering a short piece of thin-walled brass tube inside the original to form a new orifice, but the valve seat needs to be absolutely flat and true. I don't have access to a lathe. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to effect a repair, please? Or even a spare pump body that they'd be willing to part with at a reasonable price?

    Many thanks,

    Phil

Gosh Phil I’m quite sure I can let you have a pump (more than one if you want). Just PM me.

With grateful thanks to Jean J, a serviceable pump has arrived in this morning’s post.

Full marks to the Forum and with many thanks to Jean, I now have what I need so this thread may be closed, thanks Moderators!
