    Hi,

This Coleman 339 arrive the other day and it's in very good shape. It has an unmarked or unbranded Amber glass globe. I've been looking for a 339 for some time now. I'm pleased I finally have found one.

Looks like it wasn't used very often or at least there is very little scorching on the burner frame.

The top or hood is in very good shape with some slight corrosion on the inside.

Looking on the bottom of the fount I can see a 4 so it's made in April but I can't find the year of manufacture.

I decided to a thorough inspection including removing the control valve assembly with fuel pickup tube. Everything is in very good shape.

This little lantern runs quite well. I used an Egret mantle.

When it get dark I will take some night shots.

    Cheers,

    Norman

Hi Norman - lovely lantern. Looks like you have a converted 335 and not an original 339. The vast majority of 339's produced had nickel plated tanks (there was a very small late production run of 339's with green tanks - but a different shade of green) and most had a K stamped on the burner frames. The small number of green 339's did not have that Coleman/Kerosene decal applied to the fount either. The 335's convert easily and are great runners. You still have a great lantern and I am only replying in case you paid for an original 339 - kindest regards Peter.

    Hi Peter,

I believe you are correct, but whoever did this conversion went all out because it does have a 339 control valve assembly. This is a bit disappointing because I thought it was a 339 but in truth I let my excitement get the best of me so I wasn't as thorough as I would normally be.

This lantern does indeed run great.

    Here are some night shots.

I hope the Moderators will put this where it belongs with the 335 lanterns.

    Cheers,

    Norman

Looks rough enough for the bush to me, Norman.

    Don’t be disappointed. It’s a great lantern.

    Cheers

    Thanks Colin.

It was listed as a 339 and the price wasn't bad but the shipping was.

The 339 and the 214 rarely show up here in the US and when these 2 lanterns do show up they fetch a high price.

    Cheers,

    Norman

Hello, I am new to the group, but I have purchased a Coleman model 339 Globe 4 pat. 1969, the tank is silver, the decal is red and the lid is green, in Costa Rica I have not been able to get spare parts, I want to replace the leather washers, the blanket and the glass, where can I get it and what other models are compatible with 339?
