Hi All I have started to fettle a Canadian Coleman L227 dated 1 32 representing January 1932. When dissembling the frame/globe cage from the fount I discovered that the bottom of the frame plate has been painted a mat black. The paint looks to be original, further the underside of the steel ring at the top of the frame is similarly painted. Does anyone have a similarly painted frame/ base? Is this original? Cheers Pete
Hi PETE I think you’ll find that is just the colour of the dipped frame especially after it probably caught fire from a leaking valve Give it a sympathetic clean with some 0000 steel wool and autosol and you’ll be suprised
