    I picked up a lovely T10 from a charity shop yesterday for £10 :D

Only problem is I can't get the jet pricker knob off to replace the gland washer (which is leaking).

Does it unscrew or pull off? I have soaked it in penetrating oil but its still jammed on tight. Any suggestions gratefully received....I don't want to force it and break it.

Hello, the knob unscrews anti clockwise, but they can be difficult to unscrew.

You need to use 2 pairs of pliers, one pair to grip the spindle so that it won't turn, but you need to protect the spindle with a cloth or a piece of leather, the knob also needs to be protected in that way.

Then use the second pair of pliers to unscrew the knob.

Thanks Jeff, it is absolutely refusing to undo. Any other solutions? Its very frustrating as everything else is working.

Also, the spirit/wick cup is different to any others I've seen, with only one hole in it for pouring in the meths, is this original or a replacement from a different lamp?

    Thanks again,

Another method is to fit the control cock spindle into a small vice and tighten it so that the spindle will not rotate.

Then grip the control cock knob with a good set of pliers and try to tighten it just a touch as that often frees the knob, then unsrcew it.

I have not seen a meths cup like that one before.

I assume that the control cock knob, does not have a screw through the centre of it?

If it does, then remove the screw and the knob will pull off, though it may still need a little persuasion, Jeff.

That is a later Alloy alcohol cup and original to the lamp.

You can reseal the gland without removing the knob. Just unscrew the gland nut so it can be pulled back from the gland and then wind a couple of turns of twisted PTFE (Teflon) tape around the spindle and then push the gland nut back and screw it up. ::Neil::

I managed to get it apart yesterday, but not without some damage to the spindle. Wish I'd thought of ptfe!

And thanks for the update on the spirit cup, was wondering if it was original.

Thought it was all fixed but on starting it up discovered nrv still leaking, so a bit more fettling to do yet :)
