Hi, I just found a Coleman 202 lantern that I didn't know I had. there isn't any date code on it. Does anyone know if these were all suposed to be dated, if not what years were undated. I do know they were made from 1954 to 64. Thanks Jim
Hi Jim, It's probably a 1954 and the date is buried under the thick coating on the base of these lanterns that year (or maybe it's not dated). Check these posts from the CCF here and here about dating 202s. Terry Marsh gave an entire presentation on the 202 "Professional" at this years Coleman Convention at Lake George. (I wish I took notes ) Regards, Dan
According to the catalog the early 202s had steel bottoms and were hot tin dipped. The tin is what covers the date, on the bottom of the fount. Later the bottoms were changed to brass and the dates moved. Dan M (other Dan)
