I’m a fan of the Coleman 236 , 500 CP lanterns and I’ve been told that a Primus 1060 is very similar and takes same generator. For those of you that own and have run a Primus 1060 and Coleman 236, do they both run about the same or any dislikes from the Primus 1060? If anyone might have a lead on a nice Primus 1060, I’d certainly appreciate any assistance in finding one. Thanks in advance for any advice. Here’s one of my favorite 236’s. A beautiful Mexico made 236.

Primus contracted with Coleman to build the same lantern, odd; but they had their own tooling and made a go of it.

I wouldn't call it the same lantern and that is the first time I have heard of there actually being a contract between Primus and Coleman. If you know more I would be very interested to hear about it. There are significant differences in how Primus went about it. One thing is the burner casting on the 236 is all one piece that is drilled and plugged. The 1060 has a main casting but all the pieces are separate and screw together. Same result, but a lot more work and expense. Probably why the 1060 never sold well and didn't last that long.

The 1060 will work with a 236 generator. I can't comment about the other way around.
