Hello Everyone! I recently read about an interesting product. Has anyone heard about Noorie lantern? http://www.nariphaltan.org/lantern.htm What do you think?
Could very well be that the project died because there was simply a reasonable supply of decent quality lanterns already available. Seems it would be hard to compete against the Petromax and Coleman designs that are so prevalent today. Producing one for less money while still making a little profit would be a challenge.
As there was an email link in the article, I emailed the "Good Dr" asking if it ever went into production. I will post a reply if I get one. I have a friend who regularly visits India, if they went into production I will ask him to see if he can get one for me. Pictures to follow of course.
Well I have a picture of one of these running so they certainly made at least one batch. Not my image so I can't show it here. ::Neil::
Reply received from India... Re: Noorie Lantern nari phaltan Today at 3:05 AM To Richard Banfield I am sorry to inform you that nobody took the manufacturing. Will you be interested?
Looks like they made a prototype only then. I am not really surprised because they wanetd a lantern to use some vastly different fuels which may be possible but has to involve too much engineering to be economic in the face of competition from all the Petromax clones out there. ::Neil::
I posted a patent from this guy, and I assume it's mainly the same lantern we talk about here. You can see it Link). It's a bit strange application, and it's a bit odd description too. Also it's not really anything new with this lantern as far as I can tell. Even the little fin on the vapouriser is already existent on other brands.
