Recently I posted an article about Noorie lantern . What caught my attention was the fact that Noorie consumes less fuel than the Petromax .

    Is it possible ?

Been a while since I bought a Sea Anchor, the lantern always been problems with flashing light . I noticed that when I closed the lantern valve she stopped blinking . I decided to check and regulate the vaporizer valve located at the base of the vaporizer to consume the least fuel possible . I closed the valve vaporizer at least .

The result was the Sea Anchor burning for about 10-11 hours with 1 liter of kerosene without losing the quality of brightness. The PETROMAX run for about 8-9 hours under the same conditions.

Another important issue is that Petromax works with a Petromax mantle HK1000 in the same way with a HK500 . What I mean is that perhaps it is too kerosene to a mantle of HK500 .

Has anyone thought of a way to reduce the consumption of kerosene without losing the quality of brightness ?

Has anyone managed to use a Pelam mantle HK2000 ? It seems impossible to put him in PETROMAX !

    Sorry the bad English !

There are two ways to make a lantern fuel last longer, one is to use a smaller jet and needle on the generator, other consist in constricting the fuel flow, either way your brightness will be affected. Also you have to remember that the generator/vaporizer is designed for a specific amount of heat, if it gets colder than designed it is possible that it will not produce enough heat to vaporize the kerosene and make it sooty or smoke, and flare up.
