The restoration was almost limited to cleaning, cleaning and a proper assembly. Whatever the reason, the entire inner jacket, including all built-in parts, was missing. There is nothing to buy, but a dimensioned drawing can be found on the internet. So a replica came into consideration. When a 250 Petromax was visiting recently, I put on the inner jacket and found that it seemed convertible with a feasible effort. A used complete coat was found in the classifieds. The necessary changes were essentially limited to reducing the outside diameter, attaching a new collar and shortening the mixing tube a little and inserting it deeper. I have now inserted a guide sleeve into the inner jacket. This reduces the passage from the carburetor into the jacket somewhat, making it "denser". The original jacket also has such a bushing, which, as I understand it, also serves to prevent the hot exhaust gases from being drawn up along the nozzle and entering the mixing tube. This gives the possibility for the hot gases to flow in, also about 10 mm lower, the "fresh air space" to the nozzle and mixing tube is no longer "polluted" by hot exhaust gas. The first attempt to start was immediately successful and the lamp burns with the settings, free to the nose, clean and stable!
