Alex, I have little knowledge of the Petromax brand, but I know green was an original colour before WW-2 on some of their lamps. It only makes your lamp extra special, also considering the very good condition she seems to be in. I only get nervous when I look at that picture where you hold that glass in one hand.... So congratulations with this find; I do hope you will get her in working order, but leave the original appearance by just mildly cleaning her, as this would also keep her value.
