Lamp used for butterly collecting in OZ during the late 1950's and bought in a Fleamarket. Interesting spirit dish halfway up the vapouriser?

Is that a Kayen tank on that lantern?

    Cheers

It is assumed it is a Kayen tank. Can't really see if it is Kopsen or Nettlefold. All the Goulburn Specials used these tanks. The rest is built up with AGM parts (from what I've been told).

Even at that photo angle looks to be a nettleford tank smaller bottom lip on tank.
really need a straight shot side view to see bottom rolled edge height . .

Quirk's were selling AGM product in the 1930s and after WW2 were still illustrating AGM lamps in their adverts but the actual lamps were these Kayen/AGM hybrids. No question the burner is an AGM Instantaneous but these were long obsolete by then. The burner first appears in a 1916 catalogue and was dropped from the regular line by the mid 1920s. I reckon Quirke bought a lot of discontinued stock from AGM in the 1930s and sold complete lamps until they ran out and then after WW2 bought the tanks locally and used up remaining parts to create the GS lamps and this lantern.

This is the image from the 1916 AGM catalogue . ::Neil::
