This was gifted to me a short while ago by a site member but it needed a pre-heater cup which I made from a generic petromax style one which I adapted.

Having checked out the tank and found a strange ball of fibrous material inside, I cleaned it with some solvent and ball bearings, shaken around vigorously! After that was done I added a Chinese pink-top mantle and away she went. It takes a few minutes to settle but once it's warmed up, its a great little runner! It came without a globe so I've added a straight sided Coleman copy for now.

That was a nice gift, i do like the older Coleman lanterns,
Shame they don't make a universal type spirit dish like that for those less capable of adapting such an item.

Ahhh good to know of the exception to the rule Pacho. Nothing like waiting for a part and then when it shows up it's the wrong part.

Yup, even the cup you listed don’t fit the 201, 247 or any other lantern or lamp that use the same generator tubing diameter, that cup fits more a 214 rather than 201.

I knew what the original looked like so I made something similar...

When I first made it, it span round so I changed it today. I split the brass tube at the bottom and made two 'legs' to stop it moving side to side. It doesn't look very pretty but it works.

Thanks... I could do better but I've got other projects on right now.

I splashed out and bought a bowed globe for it because... well, it just looks better.

It says its for a 200 / 201 in bright red lettering but im not overly bothered.

I've lit it a few times since getting it and it's a good little runner!

I think we need to point out that with the exception of tne " 249 " or generator of the same diameter that the cup is compatible with:
    • Compatible with the following Coleman kerosene lanterns: Coleman 201-700 Kerosene Lantern, 201-7009 Kerosene Lantern, 234 Single Mantle Kerosene Lantern, 201-720 Kerosene Lantern, and 635B700 Lantern.

Nice adaptations and a pretty lantern, Colin.
I once fettled a 249. Great runner and nice, well-built features.
Wonder why they didn't make more of those.

Your lantern might appear like its powered from the AC mains in this picture  :

Sorry i meant a universal spirit cup that could be used/adapted for most lanterns, i have a Primus 981 for instance that could do with one.
