Yes, I would say EX 100

But I believe the lower bug screen is Kayen

 

what should the lower bug screen look like? do you have a photo thanks

The bug screen is the same as the one on your table lamp.
Tilley lamp?

 

It’s probable that that lamp was sold in Australia with a an insect screen that was a flat disc with holes (as in this lamp here) or with a flat disc split in the middle and sprung. There are photos in the Reference Gallery under “Lamp Parffinalia”.

Tilley made a number of different insect screens. The earliest were the flat ones. They still make them (or should I say, have them made). I think most are in the Reference Gallery.

Moveable items like the lower insect screen not a very reliable marker of age as they get lost/changed/wear out.

Tilley in Australia used your type of insect screen from 1937 at least. I can't say it is the exact one you have but they certainly looked like Kayen with the deeper dish. Considering Tilley only re-started selling seriously in Australia in 1936 after a hiatus, those deep dish type were one of the earliest of the new era.

 

We're they brass or steal do you know?

My collecting interest in Tilley lamps was abandoned long ago. I am quite certain however that both steel and brass screens were made. When I sold a Tilley, I always made sure I used a steel screen and kept the brass ones.

I am only guessing but it is quite possible that war time insect screens were steel because of brass shortages. Both Tilley and Kayen may or may not have continued with steel after the war.

It is considered that Kayen only began manufacturing in later December of 1945. I know that is incorrect so it is possible that Kayen themselves produced steel insect screens during the war and possibly after the war. This is the bottom insect screens I have been referring to.

 

I’ve put the magnet to about a dozen of those “Kayen”-style lower insect screens.

One is all brass. A few are all steel (except for the clip). A few are brass top with steel tube. All have steel tube. All have brass clip.

Okay I have both brass and steel, I Will check as to the clips, I know that I have steel clips but not sure about the brass clip thanks

 

I had to take the clips off mine to stop the magnet being attracted by the tube.

Early today I posted a thread on these lower insect screens:

The fundamental questions revolve around three issues:

1. Did Tilley make the “Kayen”-like insect screen as well as Kayen?

2. When were they first made? and

3. Were the Kayen-like insect screens made by Nettlefold and/or Kopsen before they went into producing lamps and lanterns?

Nettlefold and Kopsen were Tilley agents (Melbourne and Sydney respectively) before they were shunned by Tilley after WWII for copying Tilley lanterns and continuing to sell them after the import restrictions were lifted. It is possible that some spare parts (eg insect screens) and some fittings (eg lamp stands or glass) were made by Nettlefold and/or Kopsen before they made Kayen lamps and lanterns. Nettlefold appears to have been responsible for modifications involved in the EX 93, for example.

We’ll see where that thread of mine from this morning goes.

Your early pictures show short tube nuts on handle to font connection which dates it to brass shortage periods of WW2 you seem to have substituted an earlier(or later) handle

 

I have changed it back, to the one it came with as someone else told me.
