Hi all I finally got the time to get my one and only PL53 restored, as with most of my lamps we have done a full reconstruction here is how it was sent to me from my mate in the UK. So off we go time to get her in working order, flush out tank, put wire down flow tube, clean and blow out burner head, oil and clean control cock valve, also check and clean the vaporizer, then reseal. Time to put her back together and test the burner out and see what pressure we have. Seems to work well, okay time for the real test pre burn and el presto off she goes, what a wonderful lamp I can't believe just on 80 years old and bang fires up straight away. I WONDER HOW WELL I WILL WORK AT THE AGE OF 80? not that good i'm sure. Now it's time to lose all those collectors that dont like it when a lamp is resprayed, so warning turn away now before it's too late, because here she comes brand new with a reproduction hood and globe holder. I will save the old hood and globe holder and leave them in original condition. There you go she's all done and a excellent Lamp for my collection, hopefully one of many. Thanks to my mate from this forum.
