Here a Tilley PL53, found on an auction site. The lamp was in good condition for its age. Just clean and replace the seals. The vaporiser looked good and was hopefully still usable. Once ready for use, a new mantle fitted and ready to test with good results
That is a very lucky find, it's a WW2., PL-53, but it takes an XN., control cock and it has that very old style of burner and it has a brass knob on the control cock. Well saved!

@Johan Osinga Is there a number stamped on the outside rim of the tank? [The Registered Design number found on Tilley tanks of that period]. Tony Edit: Sometimes these numbers are hard to see and sometimes they are badly stamped.
Hi @Darren Holt .. It's the 'sock' filter for those older control taps ... It slipped onto the end of the tap on the left in the small thumbnail pic.. The recess in the fount had to be deeper to accommodate this type of tap... Hope that helps...
